Day 3

We woke up to another beautiful sunrise. The hotel provides us with a good breakfast and we are ready to start work. We stopped at the local hardware store to pick up more tools. We contiued to prepare the site for the pouring of concrete, leveling out forms around and through the building, cutting and bending rebar, and making wire brackets. Irene taught the students in the morning with the teacher helping to translate for her. The teacher came out in the middle of the morning with snacks and told us which trees bare which fruit and in what seaon. They have mangos, avacados, bananas, plantains, and oranges. After another delicious lunch the ladies put together an afternoon of Vacation Bible School for over 20 children from the village. We had fun talking about animals, singing, telling a Bible story, and playing games outside. The men went to a neighbouring Presbyterian church to pick up some left over wood. Their were huge cockroaches scurried away as they moved the wood into the bus. After supper we stayed at the church for a special presentation from Scott Reall who wrote the book"Journey to Freedom." He, and a group of men from Tennessee YMCA travelled to Belize to talk about his book and program which helps people come to terms with their addiction. This program has now been translated in to Spanish. It was good to meet some more people from the village who are struggling or have family members struggling with addictions. It has been voiced that there are many people stuggling with alchohol and drug addictions. We just finished a nice evening of debrief and devotions. We thank our families for the wonderful notes of encouragement and treats that we recieved tonight :)

Please pray for us as we are placed in new situations and pray for all the broken families here. It was encouraging to see so many children come with their parents to the presentation this evening.

God is working in this place.
