Sunday evening

Hola again from Managua

My apologies for missing this morning's blog, it's been busy here.  Let me fill you in on what's been going on.

The day began with church.  We had all been looking forward to worshipping here.  We had been promised a happy church and that was no lie!  The service began with about 45 minutes of singing and dancing, people on the stage and in the aisles praising the Lord.  People here worship with unbridled enthusiasm!!  We were happy that there were translation units available so that we could understand the pastor as he spoke.  He talked about God providing opportunities for us and that when He opens a door, we need to walk through it.  The sermon hit close to home for all of us.

After the service, we headed back to the Nehemiah centre where we met Lester's wife Zoyla and his 6 month old daughter Isabella.  We had a quick snack and then piled back into the van again (12 team members, Peter, Trudy, Lester, Zoyla, Carlos, Isabella..... if you're counting, that's 18 people).  We were thankful that the air conditioning was working.

We drove for about a half hour to Zoyla's parent's place and dropped her and Isabella off.  The remaining 16 of us headed off to the Pacific ocean.  We arrived at the beach and it was stunning.  The Pacific ocean with kilometres of pristine beach and almost no one there.  We had a delicious lunch at the beach and spent our time exploring, playing in the waves or just relaxing.  Few, if any, five star resorts have a beach like that.

Back into the van again, pick up Zoyla and Isabella and then to the Nehemiah centre.  When we got there, we watched a movie called 'Reparando', the Spanish word for 'repairing'.  The movie was a documentary about Guatamala and people there who are bringing hope to desperate people by investing time and effort into relationships.  It was very moving and I'd highly recommend that everyone see it.  If you're interested, go to this link:

At our group session this evening, we began to talk about what comes next after our trip.  We have all been moved and impacted by this place and these people.  The question that we're struggling with is, "What now?"  We talked about it for a while and we still have three days of work so we will talk about it again in the coming days and nights.  None of us wants to lose this feeling.  We've been changed here and now we need to work out what to do about that.
