One Month Until Departure

The Parkland Team met in Lacombe this afternoon for its 1st orientation meeting; most members attended and the internet made it possible for Michele to join us from Hamilton. It strikes me that while this technology is available world wide, poverty and inequity prevent many people from being able to afford and enjoy these and so many other things; that's the reality for many of the places Edu Deo works, including our friends in Hato Nuevo.  It's an honour for this team to go and make efforts to effect lasting change.

The Parkland team is gathered from a variety of places - some are friends, some are strangers - but we all sense this trip will be an amazing opportunity to renew and develop lasting friendships, and increase the kingdom of God. We enjoyed a meal, reviewed the work and the expectations of the culture we'll find ourselves in, and discussed our accommodations and travel plans; in a word we're all set to go.

Thanks to so many who've supported and encouraged us, the fundraising has gone very well.  Surplus funds will be used for local supplies and wages on the project, so feel free to continue your support.

The next blog post will be from the D.R. where we'll be uploading pictures and a description of the project and our experiences. As several teams have preceded us the past few months, we look forward to seeing the progress at la Esperanza.

Until then may God bless and keep us all in his care.
