The bump in the road today was the water being turned off.
This shut down the pouring of the concrete for a couple of hours
(utilities are rotated in Nicaragua)
- the women on the other hand got their work done ;)
We are becoming used to the surroundings in the area around
our job sites. This is bringing an awareness to the poverty and
problems in Nicaragua. There are no yards, just gated homes.
The children, who are off of school for their summer vacation,
are literally spending their days hanging inside the gates waving
to us as we pass by. No where to play and probably nothing to play
with. During devotions tonight we prayed for a drunk young man
named Walter, who has been visiting us the last few days.
We are learning his story and it is touching our hearts.
There is also an extremely sick, dying dog that lives in the area
around the school.
She is hard to look at.
But the testimonies we are hearing each day are a real blessing
in the midst of the chaos in Nicaragua.
We are getting to know the team of construction workers - there is
a great comrodery amongst our team and theirs. We notice how well
they get along with each other.
There is mutual respect between them and they seem happy.
The Nicaraguans we have met are friendly and have welcomed
us with open arms.
Serving here is fast becoming a profound experience.
Philippians 4:6-8
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, shall guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, let your mind dwell on these things.
