Final Preparations

Our team met at the home of Peter and Minnie Herfst on January 14 to go over some final arrangements for our trip.  We welcome a new member to our team, Harley Zomer.  Our team as it is now is Hank Stronks, Peter and Minnie Herfst, Chris and Leah Postma, Harriette Mostert, Pete and Joyce Douwes, Derrick Grift and myself, Matthias Mostert.

The songbooks are made up, our team shirts from Edu Deo are handed out, we received the plane tickets.  We will be leaving from Community Christian Reformed Church at 3 am to drive to Pearson International Airport.  Our flight leaves for Miami, Florida at 6:15 am where we will transfer flights to Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.  We discussed accommodations, things to pack.  Members of the team who have already been on a trip like this gave the newbies some insights towards what to expect at the site, work hours, work clothes, water at the site, temperature ranges.  Finding out there was Wi Fi at the place where we will be sleeping means more people will be bringing their laptops and iPads.  I am excited for the planned worship/bible study/games time that we plan for the nights.  This will be my first time on a plane and my first time out of Canada.  Please pray for safe flights and a good transition.
