Day 9

It was another hot day in Belize. We picked up some hardware and paintbrushes for our jobs today.  This morning some of us painted the front of the church while others were involved with repairing the screens. Some of the guys were preparing forms for the ceiling.  Irene was in the classroom for the morning, teaching the students about the colour purple.

We also bought three plastic balls for the classroom when we went shopping this morning.  The students loved playing with them during their outside play time.  After lunch we went to the town of Concepcion to visit the grade school.  We were warmly, and we mean warmly as in temperature, greeted by the eight classes.  They recited memory work, sang songs, showed their work and at recess were ready to play with us.  Marlene and Irene taught a class the song “Head and Shoulders” because they noticed that they were studying the parts of the body. The students thought it was very funny. After our tour, we went outside and played tag and soccer with the students. The students find it very special that we are willing to play with them and didn't want us to leave.  When we came back to the work site, we went back to work and finished off a few jobs before supper. Tonight we participated in the prayer service again. Relationships are getting stronger which is making it harder for us to be ready to leave.  We know that the Fenwick team will continue with God's work here and will also be a blessing to this community. Pastor Alvaro  shared with his congregation tonight that each one of them is an important part of the body of Christ, with their own gifts and talents to share. We thank the Lord for blessing us and allowing us to be part of this christian community.

Dios te bendiga. (God bless you!)
