Hola mi amigos!

Hola mi amigos!

Como estas?

Day 1

Our accommodations are a little bit different than what we were expecting. The ministry site was full of groups already so we are residing at a place similar to a youth camp about 20 minutes from the work site at Collegio Christiano La Esperanza. The facilities are similar to the ministry center with dorm style rooms for both guys and girls, but this place has a pool which was unexpected but SUPER lovely after a day in the heat and sun. It sounds like our job here will be concrete. There will be LOTS of mixing, hauling, and pouring; starting with the beams and then moving on to the roof. Some first impressions are that our hosts are very welcoming, the food is amazing, and the people are beautiful!

Traveling was all smooth, with no surprises for everyone including our first timer. We’re all tuckered out from traveling, we end the night off with devotions and praising and a good sleep.

Day 2

Today was our second day here in the DR and our first day on the job site. We were right! Lots of concrete! Mucho concrete! We are working alongside the Dominican workers hauling the concrete to the second storey after it is mixed on the ground, then pouring it in beams to support the roof. Tomorrow we will haul sand, gravel, water, and concrete mix up to the second floor to mix concrete for the roof. The rebar has already been finished by prior teams and the Dominicans, Gracias! While most of us spent time working on the building, some of the girls took turns spending time in the classrooms with the children and teachers. Many of them love taking pictures and playing with long hair. Please continue to keep us in your prayers and buenos noches until tomorrow.
