Los Dos Dias Pasados

Okay, it's 10:15 here and the last couple days need to be blogged about - yikes! We skipped blogging last night because we got caught in Santo Domingo rush hour again coming back from the beach and were too tired to do much but head to bed after a late supper!

Yesterday was full of excitement: during our half day at the school, we saw them celebrate Independence Day with a presentation and parade, while the afternoon featured sun, sand and salt water. Today was our last full work day and I think we did well in making it count. By the time we leave tomorrow, all the interior walls of the 2nd-storey rooms should be parged and ready for paint. The exterior walls and hallway are left to do, but that won't take the local workers long with their pace and skill!

Not too many words, but lots of pics to accompany this post and they are worth 1000 words, as they say! Enjoy, amigos de Canada! After one last visit to La Esperanza, popping in at two other COCREF schools tomorrow morning, and a brief stop at the souvenir market, we'll be off to La Romana for our late afternoon flight back to the chilly north. Amazing to believe that it's already over, but has been an amazing ride and we look forward to sharing our experiences with family, friends and supporters. Gracias!
