Day 6

Today was a day off from our work and we were able to sleep in a half hour later.  We even stayed up a bit longer last night and played a game . We started off with breakfast brought to us at the hotel, then it was off to pick-up our tour guide for our excursion for today.  We went just outside of Orange Walk,  which is a short drive from our hotel and once there, we loaded our boat and started off on our riverboat cruise.

Our tour guide, Elberto, took us to see God's creation from the New River. So many beautiful things that we are not used to seeing and we were in awe of the beauty.  This river was going to take us to Lamanai, which is the place of the Mayan ruins.

Our guide was very good at spotting birds, reptiles and other forms of wildlife.  We were able to see many types of birds, plants, some iguanas ,bats, monkeys and some quick glimpses of shy crocidiles Andria, our brave girl fed the squirrel monkey and we have great video of this. Devon and Anita also fed our monkey friend. We traveled 25 miles by river to Lamanai, realizing very quickly we would need our guide to find our way back again.

Once arriving in Lamanai we had a picnic lunch. We then got to see our first scorpion that was in a hat that Tim was about to try on. Our guide then took us on a tour of some beautiful jungle plant life and the Mayan ruins. It is all just truly incredible and we loved the adventure we had.

We weren't sure if we were more exhausted after a full day of work, or being out in the hot sun in a boat for the whole day.  All of us received a sunburn today, and some of us even had a bit of a nap on the boat ride back.

"The heavens declare the glory of God and the sky above proclaims His handiwork." (Psalm 19)
