Day 3

Our Help, Our Guide, Our Life, Our Friend, Our Rock, Our sure foundation. Not even these list of names can begin to describe how awesome Our God is. Today we have definitely needed God as our Help and our Guide. It was a day of hard work at Redeemer Presbyterian.

We had the opportunity today to pour the foundation of the outhouse – however, pouring foundation here is a bit more difficult then you might think. The rebars had to be bent/tied together by hand, the concrete had to be mixed with shovels and the truck load of cement blocks had to be unloaded one by one. It’s amazing how much we take for granted simple things like cement trucks and tow motors. We also were taught how to parge (throwing cement against the wall to seal it) today. It’s amazing how throwing cement against a wall can end up looking so good. It’s also a good thing that Sien and Veniceo didn’t count on us to do this job as it takes quite some talent to throw the cement. Sien has been practicing since he was 12 years old.

Today about 14 kids came out to vacation bible school in the afternoon. It was really neat to be working outside and hearing the kids singing and laughing having a good time. They had the opportunity to learn about Jesus as their good Shepherd and learning how He will never leave us. As a child of God, you confidently put your hope in the fact that God is who He says He is, and that He will prove Himself to be exactly that.

We are very thankful for the people here in Belize. The members of the church have been taking turns cooking our meals and providing us with snacks. We are so grateful that they are taking the time to do this for us as we serve them here at the school.
