Learning

Hola!

The past two days have been all about Learning and Culture.  On Friday we went and saw some of the amazing work God is doing in Nicaragua through Christian schools.  We toured 3 schools that EduDeo has done building projects for and met 3 amazing women that are the Directors of those schools.

At the first school we met an 81 year old director who has been teaching in a poverty stricken area since she was 13 years old. She gives ALL the credit to God for the many students that have been impacted and transformed by her Christian School.  When asked when she would retire she replied “that she would keep working until the Lord told her not to”.  We were all inspired by her amazing faith and complete dependence on God for all the needs of the school.

At the next school the director told us about their calling to not only meet the schooling needs of the people in the community but to also accept students with behavior problems, learning disabilities, physical illness and physical disability. A second amazing outreach at a school that EduDeo was happy to work with.

The third school we visited has developed a relationship with Abbotsford Christian School.  They have been blessed by the ongoing visits from the grade 11 class.  Both schools correspond throughout the school year, with the Abbotsford group coming out for a visit annually.  This was the largest school that we toured offering preschool through grade 11.

After lunch we went to the site of the old Presidential Palace.  The Palace was damaged/destroyed in an earthquake in 1972.  This country has been repeatedly damaged over and over again from multiple earthquakes, wars, volcanoes and governments.

Our visits and interactions with the local people have been so educational and such an uplifting experience, we praise God for this opportunity.
