DAY 2

He knows what you need!

Your adoptive heavenly Father knows exactly what you need. He knows the size and significance of your trial, and he is aware of your limits and weaknesses. Paul David Tripp

Right from the very beginning of the day, we were encouraged to recognize that God would be with us and would equip us with all we needed as we headed to our first day of work.  At 7 am this morning, we all hoped into the van, refreshed after a good night’s sleep and excited to begin serving at Redeemer Presbyterian Pre-School.

After a great breakfast, we were introduced to our “bosses” Veniceo and Sien and split into two groups to begin our projects. A few people cleaned up and prepared the new school room for plastering. Others of us were digging trenches and the rest were in and out of the classroom.  What a day!!  The weather is very warm and we are not used to working in this heat. God refreshed us with rain and breezes when we really needed them. We paced ourselves and took breaks and hydrated ourselves throughout the day.  We prepared lessons for Vacation Bible School that we will be running at the school tomorroww afternoon. We ate delicious food prepared for us by the wonderful ladies of the school.  We are blessed by the people here .  We stayed at the church until the prayer service that was held at 6:00.  I think that we can safely say that we have never been this dirty in church before.  We have a “new” task for tomorrow…sweeping out the church!!  We enjoyed a prayer service with the people of Belize and were introduced to the congregation and sang and read with them. We discussed later this evening how even though we did not understand most of the service because it was in Spanish, we were in unity, because we were serving the same God. Just as Pastor Hogeterp gave the illustration on Sunday how when we are all gathered together and are asked our names and we all shout them all out at the same time, it is a loud “noise” of many names, when asked where we are all from, the answers are not as many and it may be a few different cities at once, but when we ask who our Saviour is we all respond in Unity…Jesus.  We all serve the same God.  He is the same, no matter what language we praise His name in.

We finally got back to our hotel at 8:00 to shower and meet together to reflect on our day and share our many stories with each other and to Thank God for blessing each one of us.  We thank you all for your encouraging words and we ask you to continue and to pray for us.
