At 3am this morning, our group left Fenwick with the thermometer reading a bitter -18 degrees. Two plane rides later and with the snow fading quickly behind us, we are now enjoying the beautiful Belize weather in our shorts!
We have had a great day of travelling. We crossed the border with a breeze, checked in our overweight luggage at no extra cost, the flight was painless (minus a few quisy stomachs) and the Belize customs waved all our fees for the school supplies we brought with us!!
We've managed to settle ourselves in - we even had the opportunity to tour the town and it's local market before they closed and went home for the day. Tomorrow we have an early start as we head to the school to begin our work.
Unfortunately, our hearts are heavy tonight as we have heard of our hurting community back home. It's hard to be excited about our days ahead when we know of the pain that exists back home with our family and friends. Our thoughts and prayers are with the DeHaan family!
