HANDS Team Update

Wow, our team has sure had a busy but great December!

We started it off by a successful Mom's Pantry fundraiser. Always a favourite :) It was a great start to our fundraisers. Thank you to all who purchased from us!

We also had a Goods and Services Auction, combined with another team going to Nicaragua earlier in 2014. It was very successful! Our team members contributed many great items and services such as babysitting, tutoring, and gift wrapping, with the proceeds going to our trip to Nicaragua. We had a great turnout despite a snowy night, and we are so grateful for the generous support from all who attended. This event helped us raise a great deal of funds. It was fun for us to come up with ways we could use our talents (like cooking, babysitting, etc) to benefit God's kingdom in Nicaragua by putting the funds raised from them toward our HANDS trip. We also had a fantastic baking table with delicious treats, made by our team! Thank you so much to all who came out, donated, and/or purchased items/services at the auction.

Our most recent event, which was yesterday (Dec. 28), was our HANDS Boot Hockey Tournament. It too was a great success. We had over 140 participants on 26 teams of 5 or more who played boot hockey all day! The weather even cooperated for it :) We had both Fun and Competitive divisions, allowing people of all skill levels to participate. We also served up some homemade chili, hot chocolate, coffee, and cookies inside. We would like to thank all who came out - those who donated items such as the hay bales, cookies etc; those who helped serve and prepare the food; referees, participants, and spectators! Thank you for supporting us and helping us make the day so successful.

Going into the New Year, our team is excited to see what God has in store for us. We will definitely be doing a lot of spiritual preparation as our departure date (April 28) nears. We ask that you continue to keep us all in your prayers as we continue to prepare for this experience, that is sure to impact our lives greatly. Above all, we are thankful to God that he has blessed us so much already in this journey.

"And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father."

-Colossians 3:17
