Culture day #1...
We enjoyed visiting 3 different schools that were recently renovated, 2 of which Ralph and Ruth had worked at on previous trips. It's wonderful to see the work that has been accomplished through all the HANDS teams throughout the past couple of years.
We visited the Presidential palace ruins that had been hit by 2 earthquakes years back. It is situated on a mountaintop that overlooks the beautiful city of Managua. Then hit the market this morning which was a great experience and grabbed some lunch downtown (we are being spoiled here!!!). We came back to the Nehemiah Center and had a tour of the vocational school where different trades are taught: woodworking, auto mechanics, electrical, welding and a blacksmith shop. Their focus is on teaching the high school kids here at the Nicaraguan Christian Acadamy, Nejapa campus.
It was nice to have some time to view the city. This country is a beautiful representation of God's creation and we're thankful that we could get a glimpse of it today.
