Day 5: Brick Laying

Hola everyone!

Today was the start of a new week, and a chance to get back to the school and help with the work that was needed to be done. It was great to see all the children and staff there again, as their joy is often infectious as you walk in to start a day of hard work.

It was a much easier day today (work wise) than Saturday, as our team took care of a lot of the “grunt work” due to our task at hand, which was brick laying.  We had three locals do the majority of the brick laying (a few of us tried our hands at it, but didn’t last long), which left most of us doing things like shovelling dirt and gravel (for the mortar), carrying blocks to every corner that needed, and being personal assistants to the brick layers (bringing pails of mortar, handing over blocks, etc). The wall was built halfway tall over the whole area by the end of day.

Most of us got a lot more interaction with the children today than in previous days, as we had a few more moments to play games with them and have fun. We were also able to hear some of the needs in the community from health concerns, to needs of the local church.

Tomorrow will be another day of laying bricks, hopefully completing the wall structure tomorrow.

God bless, and thank you for your constant prayers.
