Day 2 in Belize

Our second day was nothing short of amazing.  We loaded the bus at the manse and waited for
George Ferrar to arrive and travel with us. George is the Director of Tree Life Ministries and the organizer of the Belize National Prayer Network.

He lives on an island some distance away and Pastor Betson received a phone call from him saying that for the first time in the 15 years he has been in Belize the boat from the island broke down.  We prayed and God was faithful.  George arrived within a half hour of us praying.

We then left and picked up some of the teenage boys from Pastor Betson’s church and some other leaders along the way as we travelled to the Jaguar Creek Retreat Centre about 90 minutes to the south of Belize City.  Of course there are no shortages of surprises here.  One of those leaders, Dessi, got on the bus and was introduced by Pastor Betson while some of the team took a stretch.  We then left and proceeded down the road.  Five minutes later someone asked where Dessi was??  He was NOT on the bus.  We returned and found he had
stepped off the bus for a minute and we drove away!!

The Retreat Centre is located on about 5 acres inside 700 acres of jungle.  It provided an
absolutely awesome location for our men’s retreat.  The retreat began with a lunch of rice beans and chicken with fresh watermelon and cookies (no fresh jungle snake meat ;o) although  Robert one of the young guys tried to convince us otherwise . The focus of the retreat was titled Building Men of Integrity.  Jamie McArthur did an excellent job of connecting with the 7 young teenage boys who attended and was used powerfully by the Lord to share the heart of this foundational seminar for men.  We were greatly moved by the responses of the pastors, leaders and young men to the teaching and ministry times.  Late Friday night we bedded down in comfortable screened cabanas for the night listening to the sounds of the jungle AMAZING!
