HANDS Coordinator

Position Summary:

The HANDS Coordinator is responsible for engaging and equipping communities of Canadians to go, serve and be a blessing to international partners through short term missions.

Position Goals:

  • To provide high-quality leadership to the HANDS program, including the promotion, coordination, training, and follow-up.

Responsibilities and Duties:

1. HANDS: (90%)

a) Engage communities of Canadians through meetings, workshops and/or communication pieces to share EduDeo’s vision, mission, and impact and opportunities to serve through the HANDS program.

b) Recruit HANDS teams from across Canada.

c) Dialogue with International Partnership Director regarding HANDS opportunities.

d) Encourage and manage all volunteers for the HANDS program, particularly team leaders.

e) Manage the HANDS section of the EduDeo website.

f) Work with international partners to coordinate the logistics and details for each HANDS team.

g) Conduct team leader trainings and provide additional training and support as needed.

h) Conduct SAFE TEAM training and screening of all team leaders and chaperones according to EduDeo’s Safe Team Policies and Procedures document.

i) Provide all preparatory team items and arrange travel details.

j) Attend (in person or virtually) at least one meeting and/or fundraising event per HANDS team prior to their departure.

k) Store each team’s data and information post-trip.

l) Conduct an annual evaluation of the HANDS program.

m) Remain up-to-date on insurance requirements and maintain EduDeo’s compliance through annual review.

n) Work with the Marketing Team to develop and implement an intentional follow-up plan for each team.

o) Communicate significant development opportunities to the Key Relationship Managers.

p) Work closely with International Partnership Director to determine that program funds are processed and directed effectively.

2. Organization: (10%)

a) Be an active member of the International Partnership Team.

b) Be an active participant in team meetings, etc.

c) Provide assistance, as requested, at various significant organizational events.

d) Continue to grow through professional development opportunities.

e) Complete other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • strong commitment to Jesus Christ and His church
  • strong commitment to the vision, mission, values and goals of EduDeo Ministries
  • strong advocate for short-term mission trips
  • experience working in a team environment
  • exceptional organization skills required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • a self-starter who is reliable and who can work independently
  • ability to speak easily and positively with people one-on-one, over the telephone, and at public gatherings
  • ability to train and supervise volunteers
  • experience with a non-profit mission / development organization is preferred
  • flexibility to work irregular hours including evenings and some weekends
  • willingness to travel (as needed) throughout Canada

Reporting Structure:

The HANDS Coordinator reports to the International Partnership Director.
