Working in Matagalpa

Woodland 2014 HANDS Team:

Day 2 of our trip to Nicaragua is now coming to a close and we have had very, very eventful days.  Our trip began poorly when we discovered that Lizzie's passport was 5 months and 30 days from expiring and therefore she could not travel.  If we had left 5 hours earlier, all would have been well, but by 4:30 on Wednesday morning, she was just inside the 6 month window and as a result she couldn't board.  Happily that has now been resolved and she is traveling to us, but we won't see her until late tomorrow morning.

After that disappointment, everythng proceeded as we hoped.  Our flights were on time and uneventful.  We cleared Nicaraguan customs without issue and met Lennin and Lester, our guides and translators once again this year.  We traveled to the Nehemiah Center and marveled yet again at the visionary nature of the place (6 Christian development agencies working together out of one beautiful and simple facility) and then this morning we drove up to Matagalpa and began working at the school.

As a team, we have resolved to live in each moment of this trip as much as we can.  We are meeting incredible, visionary people and we are witnessing great things in the development of a new Christian school in Nicaragua.  We are in good health and spirits and we look forward to having Lizzie join us tomorrow to complete our team (she completes us).

We will write again tomorrow about the wonders that we are witnessing.

So glad to hear you've arrived safely and that Lizzie is on her way to join you. How disappointing. Cherish each moment. This is an incredible opportunity for all of you. Stay safe, be well. Praying for you all.

Hi - this is Lizzy's mom. Can you let me know that she's been picked up at the airport and everything is fine? Thanks.

May the joy of the Lord be your strength throughout this journey especially after this early setback. May the Lord flow in you and flow through you.

So thrilled to hear of Lizzie and Mrs. W's safe arrival. It is not surprising that when God's family is trying to be an encouragement to some of our brothers and sisters we run into obstacles. Team, be sure what you are doing is a huge blessing and in return you will be blessed many times over! We are so proud of you and you are all covered in prayer!
