Day 5

Thunder Bay HANDS Team:

Greetings from Nicaragua!

Today was another full work day, before our three days off. Today, the Vanderwees'  son Jesus joined us at work! He was fun to work with and actually helped us a lot!

In the morning, we all continued tying rebar cages. The girls had to teach the guys the technique! Once they were done,  we all worked together to mix the concrete to be poured into the holes for the foundation. It was pretty tough work! We were all super tired by the end of it. We rewarded ourselves with some ice cream afterwards.

Tessa has made a special new friend, named Pin. He's another worker on our crew. They had some special bonding moments today (see picture).

The kids are all off school next week due to the tremors yesterday. Apparently there were some more tremors last night but we didn't even feel them.

We just played some "heads up" (It's an iphone app game like charades) and are heading to bed shortly. Tomorrow we have a jam-packed day exploring the sights of Nicaragua! We did have some toilet issues today at the centre, but they seem to have taken care of themselves. Otherwise, we are having a great time!

Buenos noches!

Hello HANDS team!

Loving the daily blog posts and pics - keep them coming. It looks like you have all been working very hard and making great progress. Devan looks especially proud to be at the concreto stage! Enjoy your well-deserved three days off exploring more of Nicaragua. So thankful that you are all safe and healthly. We will keep praying for you and thank the Lord for blessing you with this experience.

Adena - Glad to see you are getting your fruit intake! Too bad you don't have your mixer to make a mango smoothie!

PS - Say hi to Girlco - she sounds like a wonderful pet! Love to see a pick of her!

Love, Angela
