Day 2

St. Catharines HANDS Team:

Today was the first day of work. We got picked up by Pastor Alvaro at 8:00 and were driven to the school where he led is in devotions and introduced us to the 2 workers and the teacher. The guys spent most of the day tying up re-bar for the concrete beams and starting to put up the forms for the second floor. The girls were cleaning up the dirt piles around the job site. They also moved a pile of sand, which was sitting too close to the neighbours fence and caused some damage.  It was very humid today and the sun was very strong. Some people got sunburned and a few headaches were being nursed through rest and tylenol.  Irene and Donna visited the classroom and played with the children.  Irene had an opportunity to teach some songs, tell a story and bible story. The students went outside and we played a few games. The best one was "What Time Is It Mr. Wolf?" The students  screamed and ran when Irene turned around and growled, "Time to eat you" and then proceeded to chase. She forgot to tell them that was part of the game. THey had no idea!  The next time, they knew what was coming  and wanted to be the next wolf.  After supper and a quick walk through the village, we went to their prayer service.  Pastor Alvaro lead the service in Spanish and some English.  The best part was when we were asked to find someone we didn't know, spend some time together, share parayer concerns and then pray for each other in our own languages.  We sang Spanish and English songs. After the service we headed back to the hotel for somw more devotions and debriefing. We praise the Lord and thank Him for safety on the job site today.

Enjoy your time - the kids look so cute. Wishing you the peace of Christ tonight as you worship and rest.

Hi everyone.

Great to see you working at all different levels , take care of your backs especially Bernie and spend time with the children which you are already doing. We are keeping you in our prayers and have asked the Maranatha church to remember you also. We just pray that things will go well with the project and that God will protect you from all harm and that He will bless the work you are doing.
