Day 4

Providence HANDS Team:

 Day 4:

Today was a very eye-opening experience for all of us! Franklin picked us up at 8:30 this morning and drove us over to Pastor Santos church (who is also the principal of Belen, the school where we work.) We were told we had plenty of time to get to church but by the time we got there, church was in full swing. We were welcomed by a chorus of voices being lifted in praise to God. After listening to more beautiful singing in Spanish, we were invited to the front of the church where we sang a song in half Spanish and half English. We shared some more English songs with them before taking our seats once again. Franklin took his place at the front beside the Pastor and began to shine in his translating abilities. Pastor Santos spoke on 1 Corinithians 13 and our need to serve with love at all times or it will be meaningless. He connected this to our willingness to come and serve the local people with love. After lunch, we visited Franklins house and met his adorable 7-month old son and 3 (turning 4) year old daughter, as well as his wife. We were immensiy impacted and encouraged by their abundant compassion and hospitable hearts. The love of Christ was clearly shown in the lives of Franklin's family and the local Christians. After our visit, we were driven back to our camp where we hopped in the pool and enjoyed some relaxing time. Supper was served at 6:30 and social hour followed. Devotions became a long affair after dicussing the day and the impact that it had on our lives.
