View all HANDS Teams

On the morning of the 5th day we took a bit of a detour. The school that was the location for the 2015 Promise Keepers EDU DEO team. The returning team members had a chance to see what had been done since they had completed their portion of the work. The team was quite amazed at what they had seen. What was once a courtyard full of construction material and dirt was now and area full of kids playing. There was still quite a bit of work to be done, but the school looked really good.

Once we arrived at our current site we started work on preparing for rebar and cement. We moved the gravel back to the areas that we took it from to help level the area. Move it out and then move it back in, oh well that's just the way it goes.

The rebar and all the prep work was complete, but the cement had yet to arrive by the time our day had come to an end. We waited a bit longer but had to head back to the camp as we were nearing supper time.

Day 7 0 comments

Day 7 started very early just like the year before. The team was up at 3:30am to be ready for the van that was arriving at 4am. We arrived at the airport and checked in. This was the point we new friends and old said their good byes and reflected quickly on the past week's events. The all agreed that it was a rewarding week all around and that we all left changed and blessed by God,

Day five complete. 3 comments

Just when we thought we couldn't work any harder today we had to do the clean up from yesterday. All the dirt and broken concrete needed to loaded on the back of a truck. We also moved quite a bit of rock and gravel as the prep work for cement tomorrow went on. There are no easy days as tomorrow is concrete day. We will also start tomorrow with a brief stop to Renacer, school that we worked on last year.
