Day 4

Newmarket HANDS Team:

Back to the work site and more digging.  We continued to work on the trenches.  We learned this morning that we had to go into the 2 bathrooms as well and go along 2 of the walls.  Luckily these did not need to be as deep.  When we completed one of the trenches some of us started to help with mixing cement.  They do not use cement mixers - it is all done by hand.

After lunch we headed back to Managua for the weekend.  On the way we stopped at a Christian School about half way between Matagalpa and Managua.  This school was just built in 2009 and is open for classes just for the 3rd year.  They go up to Grade 6 and have 167 students.  We had a tour and then met with the teachers.  They have very few resources in the classroom.  We were impressed by the enthusiasm of the teachers their love for the Lord and their dedication to the students.  They had spent the day learning more about how to implement and Christian worldview in their teaching.

We woke up to beautiful sunshine and once again the rains came when we were inside.  We thank God for His blessings.
