Final Day(s)

Nanaimo HANDS Team:

Trip home (Sunday, March 24th and Monday, March 25th):

Matt 5:14-16

14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven"

As this is our last day (Sunday), it was fitting to spend it in fellowship at two services with our Belizian brothers and sisters in Christ.  We spent the majority of the second service praising the Lord in unity, which was a profound way to close our time together.

Our host bid us a farewell in Belizean fashion, providing us with traditional meal fit for royality.  As we shared this meal together, we were treated with the likings of a Mayan story.  The team knew the time with our brothers and sisters was coming to an end.

The next morning (Monday) our team began our lengthly journey back to Nanaimo.  Miguel and Brother Thomas thoughtfully ecsorted us to the airport.  Each team member had the oppertunity to say goodbye to our host, allowing us time to reflect on our time together.

Brother Miguel closed our conversation with words that left a lasting impact on me, and I hope on others as well.  He stated that he saw Jesus' light through our team.   Miguel's words bares witness to Jesus' truth that God's light shines forth through His children no matter where we go.  Throughout our long journey home, this powerful truth remained in the forefront of my thoughts; in a dark world, we as believers in Christ carry His light wherever we go, whether home or abroad.  It is my hope and prayer that we as Christians realize and never forget the inheritance that we have as sons and daughters of the Most High, nor neglect our mission to be mighty lights for Him wherever He calls us to be, casting out darkness wherever we are.

As the little children's song says,  "...this little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine." Let us let our lights shine all over the whole wide world. Amen.

Mr. Johnson
