April 8-9

International Block Learning Trip - London & Toronto HANDS Team:

Yesterday we went to the Renacer school, it’s a school from age 2 to grade 12 school. We are partnered with the grade 11 and grade 12, I had the opportunity to be seated with Ricardo, Nathanael and Hosea Martinez. Through broken English and Spanish we shared conversation about our interests, passions. Eating together, through the food we shared growing relationships we will continuously practice over the next 6 weeks. These Dominicans are amazing hosts and are very funny. Today we had the opportunity to go to the Benevento school where we played “Duck, Duck Goose” and “octopus” with 180 kids from preschool to grade 8. The kids were super excited to see us, play, and talk. We had lunch with the team and agreed that we saw everyone having fun. In the afternoon we painted the bottom two floors of Benvenuto School and we will be returning tomorrow to finish painting the rest of the school.

Hope you went easy on them playing duck duck goose, Matt! Glad to hear there’s a good mix of relationship building and painting for you to enjoy. BTW Jacob is on sock duty with you gone ;)
