Preparations for our Trip

Guido 2014 HANDS Team:

Hello and Welcome to our blog! We are the 2014 Guido Hands Team and we are very excited about our upcoming trip. In March, our team will be headed to the Dominican Republic to serve at Colegio-Cristiano-La-Esperanza. This trip is a wonderful opportunity for us to develop relationships with the body of Christ in a different culture, and to serve these people in their community.

The members of our team include Bradley Schouten, Kyla Blokker, Kimberly Boot, Caleb Datema, Kaitlyn Haining, Jessica Jager, Jasmine Kampen, James Smeding, Lisa Smeding, Marisa VanderVeen, Jodi VanEgmond, Corrine VanWoudenberg, and our wonderful chaperones, Esther and Greg VanMiddlekoop. Feel free to check out our individual pages for more information on each of us. As a team we try and meet every week during our lunch break to make sure we are all on the same page, and we hope to get together one evening soon so that we will all be best of friends before our trip! :)

As our departure date rapidly approaches, we are putting the finishing touches on our fundraising efforts. Among other things we have hosted tournaments, held bake sales, sold chocolate bars, hosted a breakfast, and held soup days. We have also received many donations, which we are most certainly grateful for.

As we prepare for this trip, we are thankful to our Heavenly Father for giving us this opportunity to serve others in His kingdom and grow as His children. We would like to ask that you please keep us in your prayers as we go through our final preparations for this trip.

Hola Guido HANDS Team:

We're just back from La Esperanza where there is still lots of "mezclar" to be mixed and plastered on the walls. The local crew is a wonderful bunch of workers - you're in for a good experience. God bless you and keep you safe on your journey. We're looking forward to your updates.

Praying for travel mercies as the team makes its way from Toronto to La Esperanza today.
