Grimsby HANDS Team:

Last day in Diriamba

I can hardly believe that I just wrote that.  The time has flown by here. Looking back on the last 10 days, Buffalo airport seems like a lifetime ago.

So today, we have to say goodbye to this little town that we've grown to love. A town not unlike Grimsby (in a Nicaraguan kind of way).  It will be bittersweet when we drive down that long hill toward Managua after work today.

We're looking forward to the short program at the school this afternoon. One thing that we've missed here a bit is that the kids are on holidays so there were none in the school while we've been working (we couldn't have done this job with the kids around though).  Today, the teachers, as well as parents and students will be at the school. It will be nice to meet them.

It will be good to go home again, good to see family and friends, good to get back to a regular routine.  It will be good to see lake Ontario and the Niagara escarpment.  It will even be good to see a little bit of snow.  But...we will miss this place.

so bittersweet! I remember after my first HANDS trip (I have been on 2, both to Nicaragua), I had such a hard time fitting back into my life at home. Later on, I realized it was culture shock. No person can go through something like you have and not be impacted.

Hold the experience in your heart like a treasure. God will use it in some way!

And wives, be prepared, if your husband wants to go back again someday, he's going to want to take you with so that you can experience it together! After much persuasion, Bob is coming with me in Jan. 2015 :)

God bless you all and praying for a safe return home!

You gave me goose bumps, I can only imagine how quickly you would fall in love with the place and the people. Safe travels as you head back to Canada.

I too have read your blogs in the morning and in the evening each day, and have enjoyed walking 'virtually' with you through this journey. As a group you have most definitely been a blessing, and you have most certainly received blessing too.

Praying for safe travels as you make your way back home tomorrow.
