Day 1 & 2

Edmonton HANDS Team:

After a long day of flying we made it to Nicaragua around 9:30 p.m. We had an early morning and left for the jobsite at 7:30 a.m. It was about a half hour drive to the jobsite from the Nehemiah centre.

For the 5 of us that have been to Nicaragua before, it was so nice to see so many familiar faces. It was great to meet some of the children as well as the crew, principal, and pastor.

There was a lot of digging where the guys had to dig out a few large tree roots, which was difficult in the heat and with the dry ground. The ladies and a couple Nicaraguan workers tied rebar all day.

We ended the day with delicious fresh mangoes.

Came back for a refreshing shower, devotions, and games. Looking forward to another day of work tomorrow!

Hi Ron and Monique, we have been thinking of you guys and reading your posts so far. This I am sure is a very experiencing thing to be doing. I am sure that you are learning a lot from this..what an experience for you both... so wonderful in helping other countries like this, the children will be so excited about this when the job is finished, just imagine the education they will receive afterwards.they are so lucky to have people like yourselves and your group who are able to help build for them..we wish you all the best and look forward in reading more... love you guys and take care:) tim and Patti devries
