Day 1 & 2 - Blessings and Smiles

Discover & Learn Zambia HANDS Team:

We are blessed to have arrived in Lundazi, Zambia after a long, but uneventful trip (thankyou Jesus!!).  We spent 17ish hours on a plane and 9 hours in a vehicle and 1-2 lost nights of sleep.

We were thankful to have had a welcoming committee which included Rev. Nehemiah and Jonathan at the airport.  Right away their patient, gracious spirits were on display.  They had waited 4 hours for our flight to arrive due to delays. Their smiles and handshakes were exactly what our tired and hungry selves needed. The suitcases were loaded on the top of our jeep and tied down VERY WELL!! What should have been a 40 min drive to the CCAP Guest House ended up taking us 2 hours due to the evening traffic commute. Our drivers were amazing considering the sheer volume of traffic and the amount of crazy drivers to combat!!  When we arrived at our accomodations our gracious hosts met us with more smiles, hot food and amazingly awesome wonderful beds to sleep in!!!!!

In reflection of our day's journey we felt blessed that our trip was uneventful!!! We discovered that cellphones are universal, goats rule the side of the roads, mice are sold on sticks, there are paved roads (though many potholes), and many schools.

We also  discovered that the Zambian people are so very friendly and want to know who the mzungu (white people) are!!

Lastly, I leave you with the Bible verse that we reflected on during devos tonight!

Psalm 22:27b-28

"And all the families of the nations will bow down before Him, for dominion belongs to the Lord and He rules over the Nations."
