Day 6

Bramalea HANDS Team:

This was another day of exploring the island and going to church. First we went to a Mayan Temple archaeological site called Altun Ha. It is about an hour and a half drive from Orange Walk. It was excavated by a Canadian and a large jade head that was found in a tomb is now at the Royal Ontario Museum. It is the size of a man's head and its estimated worth is $2 billion US. We returned in the late afternoon and then went to the church that is held at the school on Sunday nights. It was a great service with Pastor Ligurdo preaching in both english and spanish. Although the school teaches in english and the people do speak english they will converse in spanish with other Belizeans.
