Day 2: Work Day 1

Barrie HANDS Team:

Today we were on the road to the Presbiterian Day School around 8 am. When we arrived we were welcomed by a class of young kids by a beautiful song, in response we sang back to them. They then proceeded to tell us that the weather was colder than normal, and that this was our fault because we brought the cold from Canada. We had a good chuckle when some of the students were in toques and mitts, and we were in shorts and t-shirts.

Our work for the day consisted of: moving piles of gravel and sand from the ground to the roof, bringing concreate blocks up to the roof, laying the blocks, mixing cement and mortar, as well as tying and bending rebar. We have a great team, and we work well with each other, as well as the locals.

A highlight of the day was when the students went out for their recess. Some of the team members enjoyed playing games of 'catch catch' (what we know as tag), duck duck goose, and soccer. It was evident that the children, and team members, enjoyed playing all of these games.

We were able to see God through the patience of some Belizians when our van wouldn't start for our way home. Nobody complained, and everybody was doing their best to help out. It took a few phone calls, and almost an hour, but soon enough a bus came and we were headed back home. We are looking forward to another goodnight's sleep.

We continue to thank you for your continuous prayers and supports. All of your comments on our last post are very appreciated! It is great to know that we have such a large support group.
