One week away. Only one week.

On Tuesday, November 12th, the twelve Act Five students begin their journey to Zambia, along with their leaders, Alyssa and Dena, and our photographer/videographer/friend-of-the-program, Colin.  They will be away for 4 full weeks and are actively preparing for all that is awaiting them there.

First, as a community, we want to say a collective THANK YOU to all those who have donated to the trip.  Our trip is now 100% funded thanks to the amazing collection of people and communities behind us and our students.

While the Act Five students are completing their projects for courses this week, have placements set up and continue their life in our home, they are also preparing for their trip with EduDeo (and with the support of World Renew).  There will be times to prepare for cultural differences, for travel, for school activities, and for more.  And there will be times for prayer, for listening, and for preparing our hearts and minds for what God has in store.

We invite you to now support us by praying for and with us.

And for those who would like to follow along, we will be maintaining our Act Five Blog as much as possible over the month away, so please follow us there -

May God's Kingdom come, on earth as it is in heaven.

Launching the Act Five Zambia trip! 2 comments

To all those following along and considering supporting our team,

We are thrilled to be launching what we hope to be a fruitful and multiple year partnership with EduDeo and their partner in Zambia, the Church of Central Africa Presbyterian (CCAP).  This upcoming academic year, 12 young adults who have graduated high school in the past number of years will be coming together for 8 months to live, learn, work and travel together as they grow together in their faith, character and sense of direction.

A central part of our program is the opportunity provided by EduDeo to travel to Zambia for close to 4 weeks, where students and their leaders will have the chance to partner with and support what the CCAP is doing through Zambia. Our team will be involved in classrooms building relationships with Zambian students, assisting in the construction of a new science lab, spending time learning from the Zambian people and church, experiencing the country's beauty, and more.

We would love for you to follow along with us as we prepare and then participate on this trip. We believe that God has been so faithful in how He has been leading in the development of Act Five and our partnership with EduDeo (and the CCAP).  And we are deeply grateful for this chance to join in and learn from the work of God's Kingdom on the other side of our world.

Also, these 12 students are each being asked to raise up to $3600 for this trip, which is a lot! Please consider supporting them financially - and sharing this trip with others - as these funds will go to cover their costs, the construction supplies and labour in Zambia, and the ongoing work of the CCAP.

And finally, please pray for our team - for these 12 students and trip leaders as they prepare these next months, for the CCAP's work in Zambia and their preparations for us on their end, and for all that God desires to teach our students through their time away from home.

With grace,

Jon Berends, Director of Act Five
