Mery's journey in Christian education in the Dominican Republic began when she worked at Nueva Creacion de Fe, alongside a teacher named Eva. Mery was impacted by how kind the people were and was impressed by the fact that the teacher she worked alongside was a past student of the school.

Eva's mentoring led Mery down the road to become a secretary, a teacher and, eventually, a principal.  Mery is now the principal of La Esperanza and holds a deep passion for the school, the teachers and the children.  This passion is evident in how she manages the school, her relationships with the teachers and the commitment she has displayed throughout the years, even to the point of paying out of her own pocket.

Mary is a kind and soft-spoken principal with a gentle smile, with an enormous heart for the surrounding community.  One of her most recent highlights was a celebration in November, 2010.  That is when they celebrate a "Family Day" in the Dominican Republic and so the school hosted a parent/teacher picnic.  Mery enjoyed this special time to get to know the parents better, allow the parents to get to know the teachers better, and experience wonderful fellowship through games, bible stories and food.
