A Teacher at Divino Salvador

Imagine an elementary class being conducted with only the teacher holding a textbook.  Dalia, an energetic teacher at Divino Salvador School in Ciudad Sandino, Nicaragua, has the daily challenge of creatively developing ways to share the information from this single textbook with the students before her.

Her passion is to teach her students to feel the joy and importance of learning and be inspired to continue their educational journey.  Dalia teaches grade 5, so has been trained for her position through workshops, since it is only high school teachers who require university education in Nicaragua.

With Spirit-supplied doses of love and dedication, since her salary is $50 a month in addition to some food provided by the school, she begins her day at 7:00 am with devotions and leads her class through each 45 minute segment of their day. The 213 students at Divino Salvador School take a half hour recess to burn off their energy in a concrete space outside the size of an average house, after which they continue with their classes until the afternoon.

Dalia, who has been a Christian for 2 years, is eager to share Christian education with the students at her school, so that they will go on through high school to university education and become Christian leaders in their community.

May God continue to provide Dalia and other Christian educators with the resources needed to provide their students with quality Christ centered education.
