Meet Victor Argenis Perez, a 7th grade student at Colegio Cristiano Reformado Emanuel, located in the community of Los Angeles, Santo Domingo.  Victor is 12 years old.  He is a highly dedicated student, loves sports and is very popular among his peers.

Despite his outstanding academic performance, Victor had a problem.  Victor could not control his compulsion to lie.  He would lie for no reason to his family, friends and teachers about anything.  This caused him to lose the trust of those he cared about, especially his family.  And this was very shameful for him, as well as hurtful to others.

One day after the school chapel service, Victor approached the school counselor, Aracelis Monegro and told her that he felt convicted by the Word of God that was shared that day at chapel and couldn’t hold it any longer.  He wanted to ask God and her for help.

Aracelis worked with Victor and his family for a while, addressing the issue. After several sessions that included public confession, Victor experienced freedom from his compulsion to lie, received the forgiveness of his family, and made public profession of his faith in Jesus Christ as his Saviour and Lord.

“All the guilt and shame were taken from me by my Lord Jesus.  I’m so happy with my school, my good teachers and this life changing school community,” says Victor.  He requested that we keep him in our prayers so that he will continue growing and maturing in every respect.

Integrity is one of the values that we cultivate at COCREF.  In a nation where corruption is one of the key issues keeping the country from its potential for prosperity for everyone, Christian education is one of the transforming instruments God is using to impact the lives of the emerging generation - children and young people like Victor.

Will you help us?  Colegio Cristiano Reformado Emanuel (a COCREF school) is committed to the social and spiritual transformation of children like Victor Argenis, as we do our best to “start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.” Proverbs 22:6
