Barbara knows all about bad company corrupting good morals. The teenage life at a government-run boarding school provided all sorts of tempations to her.  Together with her peers, Barbara experimented with smoking, skipping classes, as well as prostitution, which provided funds to support her habits as well as necessities. The temptations were real, since they sometimes meant the difference between going hungry or having enough.  And opportunities for prostitution were even available right within the school building.

When her parents came to visit her at school, she was often nowhere to be found.  Teachers began to complain about her behaviour.  Finally, her parents decided that she needed to be removed from the school, and enrolled her at Mwase Day Secondary School instead.  This was the beginning of a transformation for Barbara.  At Mwase Day, things were different.  Barbara learned that as a Christian she is both a “God worshipper and an image reflector”. She quickly grew to appreciate the Godly environment, and to enjoy studying more than ever before. She says that teachers are well organized, very committed and encouraging and this has shaped her lifestyle. Her transformation has also brought happiness and salvation in her family. She herself has been able to share the good news of Jesus Christ to her father, who has since stopped drinking and has started going to church. Her ambition is to become a nurse after completing her secondary school education.

Barbara gives thanks and glory to God for everything He has done in her life.
