A School that is part of ACECEN

Colegio Primer Templo Biblico is a primary school in Managua, Nicaragua's capital city.  It is attached to the Templo Biblico Church. In 2013 the church celebrated their 60 year presence in the community, and the school's 28 years of service.

Colegio Primer Templo Biblico began in 1985 serving preschool aged children.  It has grown over the years to include more classes, now up to grade 6.  For a few years grades 7 was also served, but limited resources and facilities hampered the ability to continue.  Primer Templo Bíblico is located in La Luz neighborhood. The surrounding community is a mix of middle and lower class. The literacy level is high because its geographic location in downtown Managua. There are several public and private schools, as well as a Catholic school, in the neighborhood and a health care center close by.

The school is very proud of their drum program – they join parades with a number of their students on drums.  A year or so ago the principal/board requested assistance to set up/improve their computer lab.  At that time assistance was not available, but the principal continued to follow this dream, and as result the school managed to collect funds needed to set up their computer lab.  The fundraisers they used were fairs and raffles.  With the help of a HANDS team their next priority project of enlarging and improving their library was also completed.
