A School that is part of ACECEN

Templo Biblico Azarias — a church in Bella Cruz, Nicaragua — decided to start a school out of the desire to minister to their surrounding community. The school's mission is to "provide excellent academic education with a Christian foundation, providing children with the tools necessary to ensure growth in every area, glorifying God with their lives."

This is a great need in Bella Cruz, as this low-income community deals with high rates of unemployment, low levels of education, and a high crime rate.

In the past, HANDS teams helped construct the first floor of a proposed 2-storey classroom structure. Since then, the school has expanded and matured to the point where the second level of classrooms was needed. Martha, the principal, became very excited when this project was approved, anticipating the 3 classrooms it would provide for Grades 1-3, as well as new bathrooms. The completion of the project opened up the ground floor of classrooms for Grades 4-6, as well as space for a library and principal's office.

When asked how this improvement to their facilities would impact the school and community, Martha shared:

"Parents will see that their children receive their classes more comfortably, which will make better learning possible.  Ultimately, children will value the provision of God for their needs!"

Dear Coordinator

I believe my sponsor child, Engel Enoc Hernandez Ojeda, attends your school. I want to tell you how much I appreciate all you are doing for him and others as well. He writes me about how happy he is to be there.

Although I would love to visit, it is not possible, but a friend of mine will be coming in February 2012. Her name is Sharon Zieglar and will be on a mission trip representing Children’s International. I hope she will get a chance to see Engel and to express my gratitude.

Thanks again for all your great work and my prayers are with you. May God Bless you all!
