A School that is part of ACECEN

Bautista Betania, in the poor part of Ciudad Sandino, a suburb of Managua, was founded with the main objective of providing education to the community and sharing the love of Christ.

During the first five years, a foundation from USA called “Hogar Douglas”(Douglas Home) supported the majority of the students’ fees, while they paid a small symbolic amount. The school offered preschool and primary grades at that time.  Then, in December of 1979, the school shut down because of financial struggles when the American foundation stopped transferring funds for the children's tuition.

In 1995, the school opened again under the direction of Ruth Ayerdis using the facilities of another school, Canaan.  The school finally received official status as a private school in March 2009, offering preschool, primary and high school to the community of Sandino.

The school continues to grow, with a current enrolment of 285.  The Principal, together with the rest of the school community, raised funds for the building of new classrooms for grades 3 and 5, a library, computer lab and a classroom set aside for bakery vocational training to adults from the community.  This construction project was quickly finished and HANDS fundraising money from EduDeo helped to buy new desks, chairs, tables and chalkboards for the school.

This growing school is in a poor part of Sandino and we are always amazed at their dedication and commitment.
