Living Out Acts of God-Worshipping

Blog Archives:

Immanuel Christian Elementary School in Lethbridge, Alberta holds monthly chapels, each with its own theme. The theme for the January chapel was on God-Worshipping – one of the ten Biblical throughlines that are a part of their Teaching for Transformation (TfT) initiative, which was developed by the Prairie Centre for Christian Education (PCCE).  These Biblical throughlines are weaved throughout the cross-curricular pedagogy within the curriculum and in the chapel format.

As ICES reflected on how God-Worshipping can be done at church and through participation in church groups, they reflected on Romans 12:1 that calls us to live lives of praise and how this doesn’t mean it should be limited to Sundays but should be incorporated into every day of the week. They further looked at how serving others is also a form of God-Worshipping (Micah 6:8, Matthew 25:40, John 13:35).

The students at ICES were then challenged to voluntarily demonstrate acts of God-Worshipping towards others.  Whenever one of these acts was witnessed, the student was awarded a pencil.  At the end of the 6 week challenge, students were asked to submit the pencils which were redeemed for money ($2 per pencil). They collected this money to bless EduDeo Ministries’ partner ACECEN in Nicaragua and help in the purchasing of whiteboards for their schools.

“Students were thanked for their efforts, but also reminded that acts of God-Worshipping are not limited to challenges, but something that should be focused on throughout our lives.   Having said this, we are grateful for our partnership with EduDeo Ministries in Canada, as they help give us very tangible ways of challenging students to act on their faith.  To God be the glory!”
