Advent Devotional Series: Lord and King

Blog Archives:

Read Philippians 2:1-11, key text: vs. 9-11.

We live under the Lordship of Jesus Christ. The One who’s Name the angels announced in Bethlehem, “Glory to God in the Highest”, is the One who today still calls us to live our lives under His Lordship.

Our world marks the passage of time by the phrase, “Anno Dominus” or A.D. That is, we live in 2013 AD.

It is our way of saying that we live under the Lordship of Jesus Christ. B.C. stands for “Before Christ” and A.D. is “in the year of our Lord.”

So transformative is the accomplished work of Christ that we count our time by reference to Christ’s coming.

In fact all of life finds its meaning under the truth that Jesus Christ is Lord and King. He is the One before whom “every knee shall bow, in heaven and on earth” and “acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father,” Philippians 2:10-11.

At Edudeo Ministries, we speak often of our world view. Part of our mission is to assist the schools, teachers and students we partner with to also view their world as under the Lordship of Jesus Christ.

It means that our lives and human history are not just random acts of good or bad luck. Rather it means that human history is being directed to a goal and the One who leads us is none other than Jesus Himself...our great Deliverer, Savior & King!

Our lives and our families have purpose because we live in 2013 A.D....the Year of our Lord.

May your life be blessed with deep meaning as you live under Him and as you celebrate His coming and His Lordship. May you experience a Christ-filled Christmas and New Year!
