What's Your Role: Tim Bootsma

Blog Archives:

For this year's "What's Your Role" theme, we asked all our staff to write about their role in God's Kingdom - and particularily how it relates to the role they are currently serving in here at EduDeo Ministries. Today we are featuring Tim - our International Partnership Director & HANDS Coordinator!

My role is to...

  • Engage and equip Canadians for a meaningful and effective HANDS service trip to a Christian school in the majority world.

While this includes working with interested and willing groups of Canadians by providing them with materials, structure and support to prepare for and implement an international time of service, it also includes working with partner organizations to implement effective service opportunities for teams.

HANDS trips really are so much more than going to help build a school. It’s also about learning and experiencing what God is doing in another part of the world through Christian Education, about building cross cultural relationship, about being used by God and growing in faith, love and service. It’s about stepping out of comfort zones, out of our own culture and ways of doing things and humbly being used by God to be a blessing to others. It’s about bringing dignity to the materially poor and learning about some of the poverty in our own lives. It’s about helping Christian schools implement the vision that God has given to them. It’s about short term missions with a long term impact both in Canada and abroad.

My role as HANDS Coordinator is to serve God by bringing together parts of the global body of Christ to be a mutual blessing to each other.

My role is also to...

  • Develop strong relationships with groups of Christian schools around the world in order to effectively understand and assist them.

With an increasing number of Christian schools globally, it’s my role to get to know who the players are and which organizations in the majority world would be the most effective for EduDeo to walk alongside and be a blessing to. Once a relationship with a national school organization has been established, a dialogue of communication continues, ensuring effective plans are made, implemented and evaluated for impact.

EduDeo’s partnerships are continually monitored and evaluated.  Through this we learn and grow together. It’s my prayer AND my role to see partner organizations more effectively implement quality Christian education and encourage them to be catalytic agents of transformation in the world of education beyond their own organization.

My role as International Partnership Director is about sharing God’s love with children and equipping them through Christian education for service in His Kingdom.

What's YOUR role?

I like the short video clip "my role". Be nice to see it in our church at some point when/if we have a collection for EduDeo.

Yes - we did send a copy of the video in the mail last Fall to all churches in our database - you should ask them to use it! :) If they don't have one, please let us know and we can send another one.
