The Blue-haired Principal

Blog Archives:

This past February, the grade 3/4 class at Alliston Community Christian School came up with a wonderful scheme to have a lot of fun, support a good cause and make their principal dye her hair blue – Yep, you read that right. The kids are pretty brilliant actually.

Here’s how it broke down:

Grade 3/4 challenged the entire school to raise money for Christ-centred education. The goals were set with incentives:

At $200 the school would have a popcorn party.

At $400 they would enjoy a winter activities afternoon

And at $700 the Principal would dye her hair in the school’s colour – blue!

There’s no better goal than one that makes an adult look silly to motivate kids. Thankfully, the principal, Cathy Lubbers was a great sport to play along and encourage the kids in their fundraising efforts.

At the assembly on Friday it was announced they had raised over $800!! And sure enough, the principal was true to her word, and died her hair blue. Well done Alliston Community Christian School!

Reviewing the Principal’s message on the school’s website, you’ll read,

“The aim of ACCS is to direct the growth of students so they will be able to respond to God’s will as servants in His Kingdom, humbly serving others with the gifts, talents and abilities God has given them.”

Thank you Cathy for living the mission of your school.

In fact, let’s all work together to carry out that mission in classrooms around the world today! Help us reach our goal to raise $25K by December 25th. Give a little, or give a lot and spread the Word!

OH, and one more thing…

Even as the campaign wrapped up, one of the grade 3 students was still bringing in more since he asked every student coming to his birthday party to bring in donations for EduDeo, rather than a gift. Amazing! Little did he know we were working on a tool to help anyone, any age, do exactly the same (shameless plug, we know, but it’s totally relevant : )

Check out our new campaigns tool and start dreaming!
