Students learn spanish to improve relationship with school in Nicaragua

Blog Archives:

Donuts are good.

“Donuts, donuts are good. Our first break the school cooks had some donuts made for us. Better than any donut Tim Hortons has to offer.”

Them’s fighting words for many Canadians, but these are from the mouth of an Abbotsford Christian School (ACS) student – the subject of our second inspiring story.

As a school, ACS participates in our School2School program that connects and fosters a relationship between a school in Canada and one in the developing world. They were a ton of fun to work with as you can see in their trip blog’s photos and introduction email to their potential supporters:

Meet the team

The team, and the school’s love for God and their partner school in Nicaragua, Centro de Fe are clearly evident. They put a lot of effort into the program and HANDS trip and many were blessed as a result.

But the amazing thing about these relationships, is that it’s a two-way street. Abbotsford blesses them with their care, commitment, and encouragement and Centro de Fe blesses them right back with the same. Both sets of students learn about the culture, history, and way of life in a different country than their own. As they do that, they discover the rich way God has worked to create valuable members of the body of Christ around the world.

You only have to read the Team’s blog to see evidence of these blessings. In the words of Allison, the HANDS team leader on the trip,

“We read tonight that Love has no language barriers… And I want our kids (both CDF and ACS) to see and experience this.”

So thank you Abbotsford, for your commitment to Centro de Fe! Your ongoing relationship with them is hugely appreciated and your HANDS team was warmly received. We can tell that you have been blessed by it as well. We've also hear a rumour that your students are learning spanish to be better prepared to communicate on next year's trip. Amazing! Your enthusiasm for the people, the culture and the work, as well as the ministry of EduDeo are infectious and a delight to watch and follow along with.

Let’s all help Christian Schools like Centro de Fe deliver a Christ-centred education by supporting teacher training in South Sudan & Zambia. Help us reach our goal to raise $25K by December 25th. Give a little, or give a lot and spread the Word!

Wow! My eyes wouldn't stop tearing. What a blessed message of renewal and transformation! That's why Christ came into the world and he calls us to be his servants. The effort of the people from ACS shows what this may be all about.

Praise God! You did such a wonderful job of putting this together and indoing so show the heart of the work in Nicaragua. It was good to see familiar faces and hear familiar voices, to laugh and shed tears of joy as together we engage in God's work in Nicaragua. May God continue to bless ACS as you prepare your next team to integrate their story with the wonderful people of Nicaragua.
