Welcome Uche!

Blog Archives:

EduDeo is excited to announce the hiring of Uche Nweke, our new International Partnership Director. He will sit on EduDeo’s leadership team, serve as the voice of EduDeo to our international partners and be responsible for establishing all new partnerships.

Previously, the role was filled by Tim Bootsma for nine and a half years. We are incredibly grateful for Tim's faithful leadership and service to EduDeo over the years, and he will be greatly missed. Beginning in March 2019, Tim will be moving on to full-time poultry farming.

Born and raised in Nigeria, Uche grew up in a family of Christian workers serving in the northern region (Muslim majority). For almost eight years, he worked with SIL Nigeria, an affiliate of Wycliffe Bible Translators. He worked in socio-linguistic research, advocacy and building relationships/partnerships with other organizations.

Uche’s educational background is in engineering and Information Technology, and he most recently completed a Master of Business Administration degree. Uche’s variety of experiences make him highly professional, intelligent and – most importantly – give him a strong desire to serve the Lord with all his heart.

Uche and his wife, Rachel, along with their daughter Jaya, moved to Canada in December 2018. While their transition to Canada has been busy, Uche says: “I’ve felt really welcomed. Especially by Rachel’s parents – they’ve been really excited to have a grandchild close by.”

But with the transition, there has also been a learning curve to Canada’s winter: “I’m getting used to driving through snow, and not being able to go outside except to get into the car. I’ve been missing the freedom to just go running in the morning. I tried it once and I didn’t stay out for long!”

Over the next number of months, Uche will be meeting our international partners, both virtually and in person. We are excited to see how he will invest in and cultivate EduDeo’s partnerships and ministry.

“One of the main things that struck me and convinced me to apply for the position of the International Partnership Director is the sincere desire of EduDeo to do international ministry well… in ways that bring honour to God and respect to EduDeo’s partners – while building the capacity of partners to contribute to the vision of seeing every community transformed by the Gospel.”

Welcome, Uche!
