Wisdom and Encouragement from the Belizean Ministry of Education

Blog Archives:

One of the most amazing experiences on the trip to Belize this far has been to hear the keynote address of Mr. Jahmor Lopez who is an inspector from the Ministry of Education.  He began his graduation address by telling the students that this day is is about you.  He asked them how do they open the doors to their lives?

Mr. Lopez challenged them to continue to support each other and to lean on the God of heaven and the fruit of spirit.  He asked them to continue to lean on the values that they had learnt at their Cornerstone Presbyterian High School and to become lifelong learner who useeducation to change the world.

He encouraged each of the graduates to remember these 5 things:

  1. Set Goals.  Proverbs 5 ought to be read regularly.  A successful person means staying on the straight and narrow and being disciplined.
  2. Believe in yourself.  Know that you do not have to doubt, you are unique and special because your Creator made you.  In God's strength you can do amazing things.
  3. Remain Steadfast.  Door don't open by themselves.  It takes hard work and you must persevere.  Don't despair if you fail...successes were failures yesterday.  Build your character... nothing good in life is easy.  In Philippians we read that  I can do all things through Him who sent me.
  4. Surround yourself with positive people.  Avoid the haters.  Don't say that you can't...I am possible is the way not saying that things are impossible..  The haters are here.  Be cautious on and offline.  Be careful with social media
  5. Seek guidance.  Know God, the Son and the Holy Spirit.  Ask...Seek ...knock. (Mark 9 Matthew 17) Nothing is impossible when you are seeking God!
It truly was an inspiration to hear a Ministry of Education official sharing this kind of faith with students of a Christian school.  The relationship between the MOE and the Presbyterian Christian schools continue to grow and be strong.
What a hope-filled evening of celebration!
