Mentoring the Leaders

Blog Archives:

This blog was written by Walking Together Learning Leader Dora Stroobosscher who is supporting Mbeu Deo Learning Leaders in Zambia as part of the Mentoring Zambian Leaders Project.

In September 2016, Ike Witteveen and I taught Mbeu Deo (Seeds for God) Course One: Teaching for Transformation to a new group of 16 online students who are registered in Year One at Zambian Teacher Colleges. Kuffer and Joshua, two highly qualified Zambian leaders, both retired teachers, watched, listened, made notes, and participated.

From April 18-28,2017, these same two leaders will now be teaching the above course to a group of full-time students. This time, Marc and I will be sitting back, listening, encouraging, making notes, and mentoring them. It is the last piece in a learning/training model that has equipped Kuffer and Joshua to confidently teach Mbeu Deo courses one, two, and three. We thank God for this transition to local leadership.

On Saturday, April 29 we will also attend the graduation of the first group of 26 students who started in 2014 and who have now completed course one, two, and three of Mbeu Deo: Teaching for Transformation. It is a good reason for a celebration!

Pray for all these graduates as they enter the teaching profession with a clear understanding that every square centimetre of this world belongs to God and that He is in ALL THINGS! May their passion be caught by the students they will teach.
