Praying for Hope

Blog Archives:

Dear Friends,

Anne Martin and I arrived safely in the Dominican Republic yesterday.  We travelled down to the DR with our colleague Guillermo Yan who is the Director of Learning of the COCREF schools.

On the night before any new training, you wonder how the week will go, how people will grow and learn.  The schedule is made (the table is set) and the ideas/learning has been prepared (the food is ready) and now we invite all the leaders/principals/educators of COCREF to the banquet and hope that they will savour the ideas and come up with new ideas on how to improve the discussion and learning.

Our circle training in transformation and restorative approaches is grounded on 2 Corinthians 5:18-21.

"All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. God made him who had no sin to be sin[b] for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God."

We are inviting all the participants to become Christ's ambassadors in their schools and communities and to love their students/colleagues and parents enough to commit themselves to the ministry of reconciliation in a proactive (and if necessary reactive) way.  Using protocols to develop good practices of listening and learning strengthens school culture and strengthens relationships.  When students feel safe and loved....they are more prone to learning and taking good risks.

Anne and I pray for health and strength and for our own abilities to listen and learn with our colleagues of COCREF.  Thanks to Mario Matos and Guillermo Yan for their humble leadership!

May God be praised.

Great to hear you all made it safe and sound. Thanks for the wonderful update. God's blessing on this time you all have together as you continue to focus on the circle training through the eyes of Christ.
